Abstract

The research aims at proving that the use of Pictures can improve the reading comprehension of the seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Bunta. The researcher employed quasi experimental design. This research applied a pretest and posttest design. It involved two classes, experimental class and control class. The population of this research is the seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Bunta. The sample was selected by using purposive sampling technique. The sample is class seventh F as the experimental class and seventh E as the control class. The researcher analyzed the data statistically. The result of data analysis shows that the mean score of experimental class the pretest and posttest were 53.0 and 81.3. The mean score of control class in the pretest and posttest were 52.4 and 62.4. The result of tcounted (3.86) is higher than the ttable (2.021). In analyzing the data, the researcher used 0.05 level of significance and 40 degree of freedom (df = 22 + 20 – 2) It means that the hypothesis of the research was accepted. Therefore, it is concluded that the application Picture improves Reading Comprehension of Seventh Grade Students of SMPN 1 Bunta.
