Abstract

Deviyanti, 2019. This skripsi entitles “ Improving reading comprehension of the eighth grade students of SMPNegeri 1 Ampibabo through cooperative script technique”. Under the Supervision of Mochtar Marhum and Darmawan. The objective of the research is to find out whether or not the use of Cooperative scripttechnique in English teaching can improve reading comprehension of the eighth grade students of SMPNegeri 1 Ampibabo. The researcher used pre-experimental design. The population of this research was the eight grade students of SMPNegeri 1 Ampibabo. They were 194 students in total. The sample was VIII B which consisted of 30 students. The instrument of data collection was tests (pretest and posttest). The pretest was given to measure the students’ reading comprehension before treatment and the posttest was given to measure the students’ reading comprehension after the treatment. The mean score of the pre-test was 61.3 and the post-test was71.3. The result of the research indicates that the t-counted value (7.87) is greater than t-table value (1.669). It means that the use of cooperative script technique can improvereading comprehension of the eight grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Ampibabo.
