Abstract

ABSTRACT Vriska Ramadayanti. A121 15 187. Developing Sudents’ Reading Comprehension of the Eight Grade At SMPN 19 Palu Through Question Generation Strategy. Under the supervisions of Drs. Jamiluddin, M.Hum. The objective of this research is to find out whether the use of Question Generation Strategy can develop ability of students’ reading comprehension or not. This research used quasi-experimental research design. The population of this research was the eight grade students of SMPN 19 Palu. The sample of this research was selected by using total sampling technique. The instrument of data collection was tests. The data were analyzed statistically to find out the significant difference of the students improvement in pretest and posttest. After having analyzed all of the data, it shows that the mean score of experimental group in posttest is 77.59 while the mean score of control group in posttest is 67.13. The results also shows that the t-counted (4.23) is greater than the t-table (2.021), it means the hypothesis of the research is accepted. In other words, there is an improvement of using Question Generation Strategy in developing students’ reading comprehension. Keywords: Developing, Reading Comprehension, Question Generation.
