Abstract

ABSTRACT Ahmad Junaidi, F 331 16 046 The Effect of Noni Leaf Extract as an Inhibitor on Corrosion Rate in Commercial Steel Soaked in NaCL. (Supervised by Ramang Magga, ST, MT). This study aims to determine the effect of noni leaf extract as an inhibitor on the corrosion rate that is soaked with 3.5% NaCL with variations without inhibitors, 1000 ppm, 5000 ppm, and 10,000 ppm. Soaking time is 168 hours, 336 hours and 504 hours. The method used to measure the corrosion rate is weight loss. This research was carried out in the Pharmacy Laboratory and in the Laboratory of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Tadulako University. Corrosion rate test results on commercial steel soaked in 3.5% NaCL and given a noni leaf extract inhibitor have increased corrosion rate along with increasing immersion time so that the percentage of corrosion rate and weight loss is increasing, the effect of noni leaf extract with a concentration of 1000 ppm, 5000 ppm, and 10,000 ppm shows the greater the concentration, the corrosion that occurs will be slower. because of the tannin content in the noni leaf extract which can inhibit the rate of corrosion.
