Abstract

The objective of this research is to obtain the mulch type and concentration of liquid organic fertilizer (POC) of coconut husk in modifying the micro climate around the crop so as to obtain maximum onion yield in dry land. The study used a factorial randomized block design consisting of two factors: first factor: mulch type consisting of 2 levels, namely: M1 = silver black plastic mulch and M2 = rice straw mulch. The second factor is coconut husk concentration consisting of 4 levels: S0 = No fertilizer, S1 = Concentration 50 L ha-1, S2 = Concentration 100 L ha-1 and S3 = Concentration 150 L ha-1. From these two factors, there were 8 treatment combinations with 3 replications, so there were 24 experimental units. The observed variable is the growth component, which consists of: (i). Plant height, and (ii). Number of leaves; The results component, which consists of: (i). Number of tillers, (ii). The fresh weight of the plant, and (iii). Weight of tuber buds; as well as components of pests and diseases by observing the intensity of pests and diseases. The results showed that the interaction between rice straw mulch and coconut husk waste concentration of 150 L ha-1 (M2 S3) was obtained by plant height, leaf number, fresh weight of plant and highest espipent weight and lowest pest attack compared to other treatment
