Abstract

The objective of this research is to prove whether the use of scategories game can improve students’ vocabulary mastery at SMPN 19 Palu or not. The researcher applied pre-experimental research design. In selecting the sample, the researcher used purposive sampling technique. The research sample was VII B which consisted of 20 students. The data were collected by using pre-test and post-test. The result of the data analysis shows that the mean scoreof students post-test 82.25 is higher than students pretest score 41.5. The research findings that the tcounted value (18.89) is higher than the t-tablevalue (1.721). It means that the hypothesis of this research is accepted. In conclussion, scattegories game is effective to improve students’ vocabulary mastery of the students gradeat SMP Negeri 19 Palu.
