A Skripsi, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Language and Art Department, English Education Study Program, Tadulako University. Under the supervision of Mochtar Marhum. The aim of this research is to prove whether or not the use of Pictonary game can improve vocabulary of the eighth grade students at SMP Negeri 19 Palu. The researcher applied quasi experimental research design which involved experimental group and control group. The samples were class VIII A as the experimental group and class VIII B as the control group. They were selected by using a purposive sampling technique. In collecting the data, the researcher gave pretest and posttest for both groups. The pretest was used to measure the students’ vocabulary before treatment and the posttest was used to measure students’ vocabulary after treatment. The result of the data analysis showed that there was an improvement between the results of posttest of both groups. The mean score of experimental group before the treatment was 41.25, while the control group was 40.57. After giving the treatment, the mean score of experimental group in posttest was 68.25 and the control group was 51.14. It also showed that the t-counted (3.646) is greater than t-table (2.048) which indicates that the research hypothesis is accepted.
