ABSTRACT
Background: Hajj is the fifih pillar of Islam, which is obligatory for those who can afford it.
Able is said to be able in terms of physical, spiritual, economic, and other health. The
implementation of the Hajj requires physical and spiritual strength. More physical strength
and also good physical health conditions, while the majority of pilgrims are elderly, which
has the potential to increase the number of pilgrims with high health risks that are
proportional to the soaring mortality rate. This factor is influenced by the level of knowledge
about health isthithaah.
Objective: This study aims to analyze the factors that affect knowledge about the health status
ofpilgrims in Palu City for departure in 2025. Methods: This study is a quantitative research
analytical survey with a cross-sectional design. The sample amounted to 100 pilgrim
respondents who were selected by purposive sampling. Primary data was obtained through
questionnaires, and data analysis was carried out using univariate and bivariate analysis
with the Pearson correlation test.
Results: The results of the study show that the level of knowledge of pilgrims is in the good
category. The analysis showed that there was a significant relationship between education
level, age, and gender, and the level of knowledge of pilgrims. Education level and gender are
positively related to knowledge, where pilgrims with higher education and female pilgrims
tend to have a better level of knowledge. Meanwhile, age showed a negative relationship with
knowledge level, especially in the elderly group. The work variable did not show a significant
relationship with the level ofknowledge of the pilgrims.
Conclusion: The level of knowledge of pilgrims is significantly_influenced by factors of
education, age, and gender, while work does not affect the level of knowledge. Therefore,
efforts are needed to improve Hajj health education that is more targeted, especially for
pilgrims of advanced age and low education levels. ULAKO
