Abstract

The productivity of long bean in Indonesia has declined in recent years, partly due to decreasing soil fertility caused by continuous use of inorganic fertilizers. The application of organic manure is expected to improve soil physical, chemical, and biological properties while increasing crop yield. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of different types of animal manure and to determine the best manure type for improving the yield of long bean (Vigna sinensis L.). The research was conducted in Pautu Village, Talatako District, Tojo Una-Una Regency, Central Sulawesi, from May to July 2023 using a Randomized Block Design (RBD) with four treatments: control (without manure), chicken manure at 6 kg/plot, duck manure at 6 kg/plot, and cow manure at 6 kg/plot, each replicated four times. Data were analyzed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) followed by the Honestly Significant Difference (HSD) test at 5% significance level. The results showed that duck manure significantly improved the number of flowers, number of pods, fruit set percentage, fresh pod weight per plant, total fresh pod weight, and pod length compared to other treatments. These findings imply that duck manure can be recommended as an effective and environmentally friendly organic fertilizer to enhance long bean productivity.
