Abstract

ABSTRACT Cinta Arfa, 2026.“Cultural Values of the Kayori Ceremony of the Pendau Tribe Reviewed from the Civic Culture of the Siweli Village Community, Balaesang Distric”. Skripsi, Pancasila and Civic Education Study Program, Department of Social Sciences Education, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Tadulako University. Supervisors: Shofia Nurun Alanur. This study aims to describe: (1) the cultural values contained in the Kayori Ceremony of the Pendau Tribe community in Siweli Village; (2) the internal factors (the role of customary leaders, the oral transmission process, and the participation of the younger generation) as well as external factors (modernization, migration, and religious system changes) that influence the continuity of the cultural values of the Kayori Ceremony in Siweli Village; (3) the efforts made by the community and customary leaders to preserve the Kayori Ceremony as part of the local wisdom of the Pendau Tribe in Siweli Village. The subjects of this study consisted of 8 informants: 1 Siweli village official, 1 customary leader, 1 educator, 2 community figures, and 3 youth representatives. The research method used was a qualitative approach with an ethnographic case study strategy, utilizing data collection techniques of observation, interviews, and documentation. The data obtained were analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study indicate that: (1) The values within the Kayori Ceremony of the Pendau Tribe include civic culture values embedded within it, such as mutual cooperation (gotong royong), social solidarity, and responsibility. This civic awareness encourages the community to continuously maintain and preserve the Kayori Ceremony. (2) The internal and external factors influencing the continuity of Kayori's cultural values include the impact of globalization and modernization, and a lack of understanding regarding the meaning of the Kayori Ceremony due to it not being performed for a considerably long period. Additionally, changes in community lifestyles and a lack of family involvement also play a role. (3) Efforts to preserve the Kayori Ceremony of the Pendau Tribe through the participation of the younger generation in Siweli Village consist of customary ritual training and the revitalization of these cultural activities. Keywords: Civic Culture, Younger Generation, Cultural Values, Kayori Ceremony.
