Abstract

This study aims to determine the readiness of Biology teachers in West Palu District in implementing the deep learning approach in the independent curriculum and identify the factors that affect it. This study applies a descriptive quantitative approach with data collection methods in the form of questionnaires and interviews. This research was carried out in all high schools in West Palu District with a total of 6 Biology teachers who are still actively teaching. The results of the study show that the readiness of Biology teachers is in the category of ready to be very ready. Cognitive readiness is in the category of being very ready with a percentage of 60% agreeing and 40% strongly agreeing, which is shown through teachers' understanding of the independent curriculum, the preparation of CP, TP, ATP, and the application of in-depth understanding-based assessments. Mental readiness is also in the category of being very ready with a percentage of 50% agree and 50% strongly agree, which is shown by a positive attitude, high motivation, and adaptability in learning. Meanwhile, physical readiness was in the ready category with 50% agreeing, 47% strongly agreeing, and 3% disapproving, which was influenced by health conditions and teaching load. Factors that affect the readiness of Biology teachers include cognitive, mental, and physical readiness that are interconnected in supporting the application of deep learning. Thus, it can be concluded that Biology teachers in West Palu District have been well prepared to implement the deep learning approach in the independent curriculum.
