ANALISIS POTENSI BAHAN BAKU SEMEN PORTLAND PADA BATUGAMPING DAERAH GARUGA DI SULAWESI TENGAH

A research titled “An Analysis Of The Potential Of Limestone As A Raw Material For Portland Cement In Garuga Area, Central Sulawesi” was conducted in Garuga Village, Mantoh District, Banggai Regency, Central Sulawesi. The background of this study was based on the lack of information regarding the mineralogical and geochemical characteristics of limestone from the Garuga area, which is necessary to determine its suitability as a raw material for Portland cement. The study aimed to determine the mineralogical and geochemical characteristics of the limestone and assess its suitability as a raw material for Portland cement. The research methods included sampling limestone from the Salodik Formation, Kintom Formation, and Quaternary Coral Reef Formation, followed by laboratory analysis using X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF) to determine the content of CaO, SiO?, Al?O?, Fe?O?, MgO, and SO?, as well as petrographic analysis to identify the texture and constituent minerals of the rock. The results of the study indicate that the Salodik Formation has an MgO content (8.58%) that does not meet the SNI 15-2049-2004 standard for MgO (>6%), the Kintom Formation has a silicate content (30.46%), making it suitable only as a raw material for Type I cement, while the Quaternary Coral Reef Formation has a chemical composition that meets the requirements for Portland cement types I, III, and V.
