This study aimed to analyze the relationship between gadget use and students’ reading interest in biology material at SMA Negeri 7 Palu. A quantitative approach with a correlational
design was employed. The population consisted of all tenthgrade students (344), with a sample of 185 selected using theSlovin formula and simple random sampling. The instrument
was a Likert-scale questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability. Prerequisite tests included normality (Kolmogorov–Smirnov) and homogeneity (Levene’s test). Hypothesis testing used Pearson product-moment correlation with SPSS version 25. Results showed that the data were normally distributed and homogeneous. The correlation coefficient was 0.687 (significance 0.000 < 0.05), indicating a strong and positive relationship. The highest indicator for gadget use was the type of learning activity (78%), while for reading interest, it was reading habits (76%). Thus, it can be concluded that there is a strong, significant relationship between gadget use and students’ reading interest. Appropriate use of gadgets can enhance interest in reading biology materials.
