Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Teams Games Tournament (TGT)
cooperative learning model on the critical thinking skills of fourth-grade students in the
subject of Pancasila Education at SDN Inpres 2 Talise. This research employed a
quantitative approach using an experimental method with a one-group pretest-posttest
design. The subjects of the study were all 21 fourth-grade students. Data were collected
through tests, observation, and documentation. The research instrument was tested for
validity and reliability, with results indicating that it was valid and reliable (Cronbach’s
Alpha = 0.880). Data analysis was conducted using normality testing and hypothesis
testing through a paired sample t-test. The results of the normality test showed that the data
were normally distributed, with significance values of 0.641 for the pretest and 0.064 for
the posttest (> 0.05). The hypothesis test results indicated a significant difference between
pretest and posttest scores, with a significance value < 0.05. The findings reveal that the
implementation of the TGT cooperative learning model has a significant effect on
improving students’ critical thinking skills. This model creates an active, collaborative, and
enjoyable learning environment, encouraging students to think analytically and participate
actively in the learning process. Therefore, the TGT model is effective as an alternative
instructional strategy to enhance students’ critical thinking skills in elementary schools.
