PENGARUH PENGGUNAAN MEDIA SMART BOX TERHADAP KEMAMPUAN MEMBACA SISWA PADA MATA PELAJARAN BAHASA INDONESIA DI KELAS I SD NEGERI TANAMODINDI

This study aims to determine the effect of the use of Smart Box media on the reading ability of first-grade students in Indonesian Language subjects at Tanamodindi State Elementary School. This study uses a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental method and a One Group Pretest-Posttest design. The research subjects were 28 first-grade students. Research data were collected through reading ability tests given before treatment (pretest) and after treatment (posttest). Data analysis was carried out using descriptive and inferential statistics including normality tests, Wilcoxon tests, and N-Gain tests to determine the level of improvement in students' reading ability after the use of Smart Box media. The results showed that the average score of students' reading ability increased from 10.96 at the pretest to 12.17 at the posttest. The results of the Wilcoxon test obtained a significance value of 0.001 (<0.05), which indicates that there is a significant effect of the use of Smart Box media on students' reading ability. However, the results of the N-Gain test showed an average value of 0.0133 which is included in the low category. These findings indicate that Smart Box media can help improve students' reading skills, although the level of improvement is still not optimal. Therefore, the development of more effective and sustainable learning strategies is needed to maximize student reading improvement.
