PENGGUNAAN TEKNIK MENYUSUN KERANGKA UNTUK MENINGKATKAN KETERAMPILAN SISWA KELAS SEBELAS MAN 2 PARIGI

This study is aimed at providing that the use of the outlining technique can improve students’ writing skill in composing personal letters. A quasi-experimental research design was applied involving an experimental group and a control group consisting of 43 students of MAN 2 Parigi. The sample was selected by using a purposive sampling technique. They were divided into 21 students of experimental group and 22 students of control group. The data was collected through writing test, the students were assigned to write a personal letter for 60 minutes on given topics, and their writing was assessed using and analytic scoring rubric. The test were administered twice as pre-test and post-test. The pre-test and post-test were used to measure outlining technique and conventional method where students learned through teacher explanation, example and based the instruction, and direct writing practice without structured pre writing activities. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and inferential analysis, including normality, homogeneity, and Independent Sample t test. The normality test showed significance values of 0.186 and 0.102 in the experimental class, and 0.095 and 0.219 in the control class, indicating that all data were normally distributed. The homogeneity test also showed a significance value of 0.075, which means the data were homogeneous. The results revealed that students taught using the outlining technique performed better than those taught using the conventional method, namely the Direct Instruction Method. The experimental class improved from 62.43 to 86.67, while the control class increased from 66.77 to 76.09. In addition, the Independent Sample t-test showed a significance value of < 0.001, indicating a statistically significant difference between both classes. In addition, the effect size analysis revealed that the outlining technique has a strong impact on students’ writing skill. In conclusion, the outlining technique is an effective way to improve students’ writing skills, particularly in writing personal letters, as it helps students organize their ideas and express them more clearly and systematically.
