ANALISIS DAMPAK INDEKS PEMBANGUNAN MANUSIA DAN TINGKAT PENGANGGURAN TERHADAP PERTUMBUHAN EKONOMI DI PROVINSI SULAWESI BARAT TAHUN 2010-2023

This research aims to analyze the impact of the Human Development Index (HDI)
and the unemployment rate on economic growth in West Sulawesi Province during the 2010–
2023 period. The data used in this study are secondary time series data obtained from
official publications, including data on the HDI, unemployment rate, and economic growth.
The analysis method used is a quantitative approach with elasticity calculations to measure
the responsiveness of economic growth to changes in each independent variable. The results
show that the Human Development Index has a positive and significant impact on economic
growth, as indicated by elasticity values that are mostly greater than one (elastic). This
indicates that improvements in the quality of human resources, reflected in aspects of
education, health, and purchasing power, can significantly boost economic growth.
Meanwhile, the unemployment rate exhibits an unstable effect on economic growth, with
elasticity values fluctuating between positive and negative. This condition indicates that
unemployment is not a dominant factor in determining economic growth in West Sulawesi
Province. Overall, the results of the study indicate that economic growth in West Sulawesi
Province is more responsive to increases in the Human Development Index than to changes
in the unemployment rate.
