Andi Nur Safitri (E32122177), *Rice Marketing System in Balinggi Village, Balinggi District, Parigi Moutong Regency*, supervised by Dafina Howara and Wahyu Prianto (2026).
Balinggi Village is a key center for irrigated rice production in Parigi Moutong Regency, playing a vital role as a source of food and income for the local community. The rice produced is marketed to areas outside the region, such as Manado City and Poso. The extensive distribution reach results in lengthy marketing channels and incurs additional costs—such as transportation and storage—which potentially affect marketing efficiency and the price received by farmers. Preliminary surveys indicate that the farm-gate price of rice ranges from Rp12,200 to Rp12,800 per kg, while the consumer price reaches Rp14,050 to Rp15,000 per kg, reflecting the existence of a marketing margin. This study aims to analyze the marketing channels, margins, and efficiency of rice marketing in Balinggi Village.
The study employs a quantitative descriptive method with a purposive location selection. Respondents included 40 farmers selected via accidental sampling and traders identified through snowball sampling—specifically, two collecting traders and one wholesaler. The research was conducted from December to February 2026, utilizing marketing margin and efficiency analyses.
The results reveal two rice marketing channels in Balinggi Village: farmer–collecting trader–end consumer, and farmer–wholesaler–end consumer. The first channel yields a marketing margin of Rp2,800 per kg, with the farmer's share of the price reaching 81.33%, whereas the second channel has a margin of Rp1,250 per kg, with the farmer's share at 91.10%. Efficiency analysis indicates that the second channel is the most efficient, with an efficiency value of 0.20%—lower than the 1.53% recorded for the first channel. This suggests that the second channel is more effective for rice distribution due to lower marketing costs, thereby providing greater profits for farmers.
