This study aims to describe: (1) the role of traditional leaders in preserving the Nogigi tradition in the Kaili wedding ceremony in Tanjung Padang Village, (2) the implementation process of the Nogigi tradition in Tanjung Padang Village, (3) the social changes of the Nogigi tradition in Tanjung Padang Village. The study uses a descriptive approach with observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation techniques. The result show that traditional leaders act as binding forces, mediators, protectors of tradition, and directors of the ceremony, as well as inheritors of cultural values to the next generation. The implementation of the Nogigi tradition in Tanjung Padang Village still follows the customary provisions passed down through generations, although there have been adjustments in the timing, equipment, and youth participation due to social changes. However, its main philosophical meaning remains preserved. Thus, the existence of the Nogigi tradition continues to survive thanks to the role of traditional leaders as well as the support of the community and local government.
