Kriston D10120151 Paten Protection in the Pharmaceutical Industry on Access to medicine in the community, Supervisor I: Suarlan Datupalinge, Supervisor II: Adfiyanti Fadjar.
Pharmaceutical patent protection is a field that has broad implications for global public health, particularly in developing countries. Each patent holder can implement it themselves or grant approval to another party to meet public health interests. In this case, it affects the availability of existing medicines and public access to medicines. The purpose of this study is to determine how the process of fulfilling medicines is carried out so that they are easily accessible to the public. The results of this study indicate that drug accessibility in the community still faces many obstacles, particularly in factors that influence accessibility, including economic, geographic, distribution, and regulatory factors. The conclusion of this study is that patents in the pharmaceutical industry play a crucial role in protecting research and innovation. Furthermore, the government has the authority to intervene in patent rights to stabilize affordable medicines and ensure their accessibility to the public.
