IMPLEMENTASI SISTEM PENDUKUNG KEPUTUSAN PEMILIHAN LAPTOP UNTUK MAHASISWA FMIPA UNTAD DENGAN MENGGUNAKAN METODE FUZZY TOPSIS

Choosing a laptop that meets students’ needs is a challenge for students of the
Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Tadulako University, due
to the wide variety of brands, specifications, and prices available. This study aims
to assist students in determining the best laptop by implementing a Decision
Support System (DSS) using the Fuzzy TOPSIS method. The Fuzzy method is used
to transform qualitative data into quantitative data through membership functions,
while TOPSIS is used to determine the best alternative based on its proximity to the
positive ideal solution and its distance from the negative ideal solution. The study
involved eight laptop brand alternatives and four criteria, namely price, weight,
screen size, and RAM capacity. Data were obtained through questionnaires
distributed to 334 FMIPA students of Tadulako University. The results showed that
Lenovo laptops were the best alternative with the highest preference value, while
Zyrex laptops obtained the lowest preference value. Therefore, Fuzzy TOPSIS can
be used as a systematic and objective decision-support tool for selecting laptops
according to students’ needs.
