Birds, or Aves, are members of the vertebrate group (vertebrata) characterized by feathers and wings.
Association refers to the interdependence between one species and another, encompassing both animals
and plants, ranging from the simplest to the most complex forms. This phenomenon of association, or
interaction—commonly referred to as symbiosis—is a natural occurrence in ecosystems. It arises not
only due to the interdependence among species but also as part of the natural process of ecosystem
balance. This study aims to document bird species in the Pangi Binangga Nature Reserve, Sakina Jaya
Village, Parigi Moutong Regency, and determine bird associations within the area. The study is expected
to provide valuable information to students, the community, and relevant institutions. Data collection
was conducted using the Point Count method. Observations were carried out within circular sampling
units (count points) with a radius of 50 meters. Observation points were systematically placed along
transects. Observers positioned themselves at predetermined points and recorded or identified bird
species encountered, either directly (visually) or indirectly (via calls). The study identified 29 bird
species belonging to 15 families in two types of habitat. In secondary forest habitats, 11 bird species
were found to associate, while 9 species did not.
