Abstract

Elsa Damayanti (A12117050). This Skripsi is entitled Analysis of Morphological Errors of Descriptive Text Written by the Third Semester Students of English Education Study Program at Tadulako University. English Education Study Program, Language and Art Education Department, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Tadulako University, under the supervision of Rofiqoh.

This research aims to find out kinds of morphological errors and the most frequent errors committed by the third semester students of English Education Study Program at Tadulako University. The research design was content analysis. This research collected 21 students’ compositions from the third semester students in academic year 2019/2020. The data were analyzed by using Dulay’s Surface Strategy Taxonomy. The results show that the morphological errors found are 31% omission, 26?dition, and 43% misformation covering nouns, adjectives, and verbs. The most frequent error is misformation which is found 29 times in the compositions. The implication of this research is that morphology aspects such as inflections and derivations need to be taught during writing class in order to produce a good composition.
