ANALISIS KESALAHAN TATA BAHASA YANG DILAKUAKAN OLEH SISWA SMAN 7 PALU DALAM BERBICARA BAHASA INGGRIS

The objective ofthis research is to find out grammatical errors producedby grade eleven students ofSMAN 7 Palu in speaking English, and to identify thecauses of the errors. This research is a qualitative research. The subject of thisresearch included 12 grade eleven students of SMAN 7 Palu. The techniques ofcollecting data were documentation and interview. Documentation means therecording of the students speaking performance obtained from English teacher.Interview was used to clarify the result ofdata from the recording. The researcherused surface strategy taxonomy to identify, classify and analyze the data of thestudents'recording. The result showed that the students produced 38% error ofomission, 17% error ofaddition, 40% error ofmisformation and 5% error ofmisordering. The sources of error were 15% interlingual error and 85%intralingual error. The students produced grammatical error because they havedifficulty in mastering English grammar rules.
