The objective of this research is to understand the development of handball
sport, obstacles in handball sport, government and community responses, and
supporting factors of handball sport in Palu City. This research method is
qualitative, where the collectd data consist of words, images, and not numerical
figures. The research was conducted orally (interviews) with 2 respondents. The
research location is in Palu City. The collected research data were fully analyzed
qualitatively. The results of the research indicate that the development of handball
sports is not widely knowen in the community. Every sport itself will develop and
advance further. The lack of socialization and the absence of tournaments organized
bay the Central Sulawesi Handball Association (ABTI) and Palu City ABTI make
the handball sport less popular among the public. Based on the research result and
discussions, the researcher can draw the following conclusion: The development of
handball sport in Palu City is not widely known due to the lack of socialization and
facilities, making handball sport less popular.
