This research aims to classify and analyze the word formation processes used by EFL students in social media and also to find out the kinds of word formation processes the most dominant one and to know what is motivating students used word formation processes in their vocabulary enrichment. The writer used descriptive qualitative method, in which the data were words that contain word formation processes used in social medai. The theoretical framework of word-formation processes was promoted by Delahunty and Garvey (2010) and Plag (2003). The data were obtained through document analysis and interview. The writer found that there are 45 words used by EFL students in Social media such as twitter, instagram and whatsapp. The writer found 17 words that exist the process of abbreviation, 6 words exist the process of compounding, and blending, 3 words exist the process of affixation, 1 word exist the process of coinage, 2 words exist the process of conversion and borrowing, 8 words exist the process of acronym and none for back formation. it might be useful for other researchers who are interested in word formation processes.
