Abstract

This research aims to identify road sections that are prone to accidents in Palu City,
to analyze road sections that are prone to accidents in Palu City, and to handle road
sections that are prone to accidents in Palu City. The method used to analyze
accident data from 2018 to 2021 for arterial and collector roads in Palu City is the
UCL (Upper Control Limit) method in ArcGIS 10.8. From the results of the
analysis, the accident-prone road section obtained is Jl. Trans Sulawesi with
Primary Arterial road function, National road status, APW (Accident Point
Weightage) value = 167 and UCL (Upper Control Limit) value = 30,689, Jl. RE
Martadinata with Primary Arterial road function, National road status, APW
(Accident Point Weightage) value = 60 and UCL (Upper Control Limit) value =
24,675 and Jl. Yos Sudarso with Primary Arterial road function, National road
status, APW (Accident Point Weightage) value = 56 and UCL (Upper Control
Limit) value = 24,389. The recommended traffic accident mitigation is to improve
the awareness of road users in traffic with driving safety education and the
installation of road facilities such as installing traffic lights, installing traffic signs,
and road patching which is carried out as soon as possible to minimize the
occurrence of traffic accidents.
