Abstract

Michael Calvin Hutabarat. Theoretical and experimental analysis of deflection on aluminum open back with different loading locations. Supervised by Mustafa, S.T., MT.
This study aims to determine how much deflection occurs in open back aluminum with different loading locations both theoretically and experimentally. This research uses aluminum open back silver (Os), brown open back (Oc) and white open back (Op) hp metals with a 3 inch C profile, 1 mm thick and 1500 mm long. The deflection test uses a clamp-on support with one L/2 concentrated load and two L/3 concentrated loads of 10 Kg. Deflection research on aluminum open back using theoretical and experimental methods. Tensile testing was carried out to obtain the modulus of elasticity using the SNI 07-0371-1998 standard. The deflection test and tensile test were carried out at the Laboratory of Materials Testing and Measurement of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Tadulako University.
The results showed that the maximum deflection value at L/2 loading from the support was; for Op 3.13 mm (experimental), 2.20 mm (theoretical), for Oc 2.61 mm (experimental), 1.67 mm (theoretical), and for Os 2.47 mm (experimental), 1.51 mm (theoretical). While the loading L/3 of the pedestal is; for Op 2.87 mm (experimental), 1.63 mm (theoretical), for Oc 2.47 mm (experimental), 1.23 mm (theoretical) and for Os 2.15 mm (experimental), 1.12 mm (theoretical). These results indicate that Os has the smallest deflection when compared to Oc and Op both experimentally and theoretically. As for the location of the loading that experienced the smallest deflection occurred at L/3 loading when compared to L/2 loading
