Analisis Wacana Kekerasan Seksual Terhadap Perempuan Dalam Pemberitaan Media Online Republika.co.id

Sexual violence against women is a form of inequality in power relations or gender inequality between women and men that occurs both in the domestic sphere and in the public sphere. The issue of sexual violence is not only an individual problem, but a global problem that requires many groups to take part in it, including the mass media. Therefore, in reporting on sexual violence, the mass media as the fourth estate must play a role in shaping the value of equality in society. This study was conducted to find out the discourse construction of sexual violence against women in the online media Republika.co.id using discourse analysis Roger Fowler et al, who views language as a certain ideological practice that provides a tool for how reality should be understood by the audience by analyzing the dimensions of vocabulary and grammar on the object under study. This study uses a qualitative approach to collect data by observing and documenting 10 (ten) news stories about sexual violence against women in Republika Online (ROL) for the period 23 November 2020 to 10 March 2021. The results show that Republika Online (ROL) has not taken sides to women as victims. This is marked by the marginalization of the dominant position of women in reporting, both in terms of naming and describing incidents of sexual violence. This marginalization is reflected in the use of passive sentences, nominalization, euphemisms, naming not independent and so on, which will weaken the position of women in reporting.
