Abstract

Setiawati, A121 17 079. “Analayzing the difficulty level of teacher-made test at SMP Negeri 3 Dampelas”. Skripsi. English Education Study Program, Department of Language and Art Education, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Tadulako University, under the supervison of Darmawan and Budi.

This research aims to determine the difficulty level of teacher-made tests at SMP Negeri 3 Dampelas. This research uses quantitative methods. Using sampling techniques, the sample of this research was an answer sheet from IXA class. Data were collected through summative tests in odd semesters. The data were analyzed by using Madsen's formula to obtain the difficulty level of multiple-choice items. The results of this analysis are odd semester test items that fall into a very easy level with 20% (4 test items), at an easy level with 30% (6 test items), at a moderate level with 30% (6 test items), at a difficult level with 15% (3 test items), and a very difficult level with 5% (1 test item). Overall, the difficulty level of the semester test is at a moderate level in the range of 0.57 which means the criteria for this test is a good test, in terms of difficulty level. Based on these findings, it is advisable that teachers or test makers should revise all the items that are very easy and very difficult, since they make the quality of the tests low.
