Red Spinach (Amaranthus tricolor L.) Growth and Its Utilization as Learning

and Natural Sciences Education, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education,

Tofu waste water is a residual material produced from an activity and
production process both on a household and industrial scale, which is directly
disposed of and is no longer used. Whereas tofu waste water can still be
processed and used as a substrate (EM4 and molasses) for plant growth.
Therefore, this study aims to determine the effectiveness of tofu waste water as a
substrate for the growth of red spinach (Amaranthus tricolor L.) and its use as
learning media. The location of the activity is in the Laboratory and Green House
for Biology Education, FKIP UNTAD. The type of research conducted is
experimental. The type of research design used was a completely randomized
design (CRD) consisting of 5 treatment levels and 4 replications, namely P0 = 0%
without giving tofu waste water, P1 = 15% tofu waste water, P2 = 30% tofu waste
water, P3 = 45% tofu waste water, P4 = 60% tofu waste water. The data obtained
is using ANOVA analysis which is processed manually. The results showed that
the treatment of tofu waste water as a substrate at the age of 1 WAP, 2 WAP, and
3 WAP was effective on the growth of height and number of leaves of red spinach
plants at concentrations of 15%, 30%, 45%, and tofu wastewater was the most
effective. used as a substrate for plant growth at a concentration of 60%. The
implementation of the results of this study which was made in the form of a poster
is suitable as a learning medium with a percentage of 82.3%.
