Abstract

Ethnobotany is not only about taxonomic botany, it also concerns regional botanical knowledge, in the
form of a review of interpretations and associations that study the reciprocal relationship between
humans and plants, the use of these plants is prioritized for cultural and sustainability interests
(Dharmono. 2018). The formulation of the problem, what types of plants are used?, how are plants
used for craft materials?, the form of crafts produced?, plant parts used?, the value of traditional uses
of plants as craft materials? and efforts to conserve plants as craft materials. The objectives are to
know what plants are used, to know how to use craft plants, to know the parts of plants used, to know
the form of crafts, to know the value of traditional uses of plants and to know the efforts to conserve
plants as craft materials. The study was conducted for 3 months from June to August 2021. The
methods used in this study were observation, questionnaires and interviews. Respondents as many as
13 people. Data analysis used descriptive qualitative and quantitative methods. Quantitative data
analysis calculates the value of ICS (Index of Cultural Significance). The results of the research on the
Moma Tribe of Mataue Village. There were 15 types of handicraft products. The part of the plant that
is widely used and used as craft material is the stem of 8 users (36%). The ICS value of the plant as a
craft material is very high. Tule (Arenga pinnata (Wurmb) Merr)
