Abstract

Ethnobotany is a scientific discipline that studies interactions between plants and humans.
Interactions based on local wisdom values that apply to a particular community culture. This
knowledge can also be used as a tool to document the knowledge of traditional communities, ordinary
people who have used various types of plants to support their lives. This research aims to measure the
importance of each type of plant and record the parts of the plant used by the Mori people. This
research was carried out from June to September 2023, in Wawopada Village, Lembo District, North
Morowali Regency, Central Sulawesi. This research uses interview methods and data analysis using
the Index of Cultural Significance (ICS). There are 44 types of plants used by the Mori tribe from 29
families. The plants found in the Mori tribe are divided into 6 groups, namely 32 types of staple food
and additional food, 22 types of other food, 8 types of secondary materials, 29 types of medicinal
materials, 8 types of ritual or spiritual and 2 types of mythology. The highest category plant ICS value
was obtained from the Cocos nucifera coconut with a value of 85, while the lowest category plant ICS
value was the Wodyetia bifurcataac palm plant with a very low value of 3.
