FAKTOR YANG BERHUBUNGAN DENGAN KEJADIAN PENYAKIT ASMA DI WILAYAH KERJA PUSKESMAS BIROBULI KOTA PALU

Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disorder of the airways that can affect around
1% to 18% of the population worldwide. In 2021, the prevalence of asthma
sufferers in Indonesia has increased with 24 million people. In 2022, the
prevalence of asthma in Birobuli Public Health Center experienced a rapid
increase in cases with an incidence of 233. Due to the factors that influence the
significant increase in asthma, especially genetic factors and air pollution such as
vehicle fumes and cigarette smoke. The purpose of this study was to determine the
factors associated with the incidence of asthma in the working area of Birobuli
Public Health Center, Palu City. This type of research is quantitative with a cross
sectional approach, the sample size is calculated using the slovin formula and in
sampling using Accidental sampling technique. Data collection using a
questionnaire. The sample of this study was 150 respondents. Data were analyzed
using the chi square test. The results of this study showed Family History
(p=0.001), Cigarette Smoke Exposure (p=0.011), Pets (p=0.027) and Anxiety
Level (p=0.359). The conclusion in this study is that there is an association
between Family History, Cigarette Smoke Exposure and Pets with the incidence of
asthma. The suggestions in this study are asthma sufferers need to do positive
things, apply relaxation techniques, improve treatment compliance and asthma
control, avoid marriages that have a history of asthma, give children complete
immunization and provide exclusive breastfeeding to avoid asthma, avoid
cigarette smoke, have the awareness not to smoke, make the right animal stay and
not put pets in the house.
