ABSTRACT

SITI SARIFAH, 2022. The Relationship between Nutritional Knowledge and Allowance towards the Consumption of High Calorie Snacks of Students SMP Negeri 1 Bokan Kepulauan Sub-District, Banggai Laut District. Supervised by Nurulfuadi.

The prevalence of overweight and obesity in Indonesia nationally from 2010-2013 in adolescents of 13-18 years old on average has increased, at the age of 13-15 it increases to 8.3% and at of 16-18 years old it increases to 5.9%. Data from the health profile of Central Sulawesi Province in 2017 shows that the percentage of obesity by district/city is the second highest in Banggai Laut Regency which at 33.8%. This research aims to examine the relationship between nutritional knowledge and allowance with the consumption of high-calorie snacks for students of SMP Negeri 1 Bokan Kepulauan Sub-District, Banggai Laut District. This was quantitative research using a cross sectional design. The research population was all 121 students of SMPN 1 Bokan Kepulauan Sub-District, Banggai Laut District selected through total sampling. Data analysis were analyzed through Chi Square Test. The results show that the variable that have no relationship with high-calorie snacks is nutritional knowledge with p value = 0.390 while the amount of allowance have a relationship with high-calorie snacks with p value = 0.012. Allowance is related to the frequency of consumption of high-calorie snacks, because the more allowance, the higher the frequency of high-calorie snacks, and vice versa, the lower the allowance, the lower the frequency of high-calorie snacks.
