HUBUNGAN PENGETAHUAN, PAPARAN PICTORIAL HEALTH WARNINGS PADA KEMASAN ROKOK, DAN KEBIJAKAN KAWASAN TANPA ROKOK DENGAN KEBIASAAN MEROKOK SISWA DI SMP NEGERI 3 PALU

Smoking habit is an activity that is done regularly (done every day) to smoke
cigarettes. Smoking habits of students at SMP Negeri 3 Palu is one of the forms of
juvenile delinquency that is carried out and cannot be avoided even though various
rules for prohibiting smoking have been implemented in the school environment. The
number of students caught smoking at SMP Negeri 3 Palu continues to increase. This
research aims to find out factors related to the smoking habits of students at SMP
Negeri 3 Palu, such as knowledge, exposure to pictorial health warnings on cigarette
packaging, and the no-smoking area policy. This type of research was quantitative
with a cross-sectional approach. The sample totaled 217 students who were selected
through the Slovin formula. Data were analyzed using the Chi-square test. The
results show that there is a relationship between knowledge (?-value 0.000), exposure
to pictorial health warnings on cigarette packaging (?-value 0.042), and no-smoking
area policy (?-value 0.000) with smoking habits of students at SMP Negeri 3 Palu.
This means that Lawrence Green's theory explains that a person's behavior
influences students' smoking habits. Recommendation for the government of Palu city
and school staff will socialize more about the dangers of smoking among teenagers,
supervise and implement the rules more strictly.
