ABSTRACT
Introduction: COVID-19 is a respiratory infection caused by a new type of
coronavirus that was discovered in Wuhan in 2019. Online motorcycle taxi drivers
are one of the occupations that have a high risk of exposure to COVID-19
infection because of the intensity they meet with many people and visit various
public places. The way to prevent the infection of COVID-19 is to obey to use a
mask. Obedience is a termthatmeans discipline and compliance. One of the factors
of compliance is the level of education.
Objective: To determine the relationship between education level and compliance
with the use of masks on online motorcycle taxi drivers in preventing COVID-19
in Palu City.
Methods: This research was a descriptive correlation and cross-sectional
approach method. The population being the sample in this research was 100
respondents. The method used is a consecutive non-probability sampling. The
independent variable was the level of education while the dependent variable was
the compliance with the use of masks. The statistical analysis used was the
Sommers D test.
Result : The highest level of education for online motorcycle taxi in Palu City is
the high school (66%) and the bachelor/diploma (34%). The level of compliance
on online motorcycle taxi drivers who are in the obedient category is 77% and
23% is in the non-obedient category. The results of statistical analysis using
Sommer's D test obtain p-value = 0.339, which means that there is no relationship
between education level and compliance with the use of masks on online
motorcycle taxi drivers in Palu City.
Conclusion : The level of education does not have a direct effect on
compliance with the use of masks; it only affects the mindset of online motorcycle
taxi drivers in Palu City.
