Abstract

The objective of this research is to find out whether the use of English songs can improve listening comprehension of tenth grade students of SMAN 1 Menui. The researcher employed quasi experimental research design. The population of this research was ten grade students and the sample were X MIPA 1 and X MIPA 2. The data of the research were collected throught test: pre-test and post-test. The result of the data analysis shows a significant difference between the pre-test result of experimental group and control group. The pre-test mean score of experimental was 27.70 and the control group was 28.44. While, the post-test mean score of experimental group was 74.81. and the control group was 39.40. it was proved through testing hypothesis. By applying 0.05 level of significance and the degree of freedom (df) 52. It showed that the t-counted 14.93 was greater than the t-table 2.000. In conclusion, using the English songs is effective to improve the students` listening comprehension.
