Abstract

The presence of butterflies in a habitat is closely related to environmental factors, such as abiotic factors
like sunlight intensity, temperature, air and water humidity, as well as biotic factors such as vegetation
and other fauna. This explains why butterfly diversity varies from one place to another. The aim of the
study was to provide information on the diversity of butterfly species in the Nature Reserve Area of
Sakina Jaya Village, North Parigi Subdistrict, Parigi Moutong Regency. The research was conducted
from May to June 2024. The data collection method employed the Time-Search method, which involves
inventorying butterfly species within a predetermined time unit, with no distance or area limitations for
each observation plot. The time unit used was 15 minutes. The study, conducted in the Pangi Binangga
Nature Reserve Area, Sakina Jaya Village, North Parigi Subdistrict, Parigi Moutong Regency, Central
Sulawesi Province, which consisted of two habitat types—riverbanks and secondary forests—identified
52 butterfly species from 5 families. Analysis using diversity index, evenness index, dominance index,
and t-test showed that both the diversity and evenness indices were in the high category. Both types of
land cover were dominated by the butterfly species Pareronia tritaea from the Pieridae family.
