Biological diversity consists of animals, green plants and microorganisms, each group consisting of many types. The role of diversity is very valuable, namely storing genes that contain hereditary characteristics in their growth. One of the potential biological natural resources is plant species with medicinal properties. The aim of the research is to determine the diversity of types of medicinal plants found in the Customary Forest Area, from the medicinal plants used by the people of Tangkulowi Village, Kulawi District, Sigi Regency.
This research was carried out for three months, namely December to March 2022. The research method used the path method. Initial plot placement was carried out using positive sampling.
The results of the research found 20 medicinal plants from 16 families. The types of medicinal plants are divided into tree growth stages, saplings, seedling poles/undergrowth. The medicinal plants were identified using a medicinal plant identification book to find out their scientific names, while for plants whose scientific names were not yet known, specimens were taken for the identification process at the Sulawesi Biological Resources UPT Herbarium, Tadulako University.
The data results are grouped based on types of medicinal plants, parts used, and processing methods. The type of medicinal plant that dominates at the tree level is the Ficus septica Burm. .23%, at the seedling and understory level it is the Premna serratiflia L type with an INP of 22.22%. The calculation of the Species Diversity Index (H') of medicinal plants at the tree level is 1.89 (medium), pole is 2.07 (medium ), saplings are 2.25 (medium), seedlings and plants are 2.74 (medium).
