The Effectiveness of Implementing Survey, Question, Reading, Recite, Review (SQ3R) Strategy in Teaching Reading Comprehension to The Eighth Grade Students at MTs-Al Istiqomah Lasoani. The research objective of this experimental research is to find out whether the implementation of Survey, Question, Reading, Recite and Review (SQ3R) strategy can be effective in teaching reading comprehension to eighth-grade students at MTs. Al-Istiqomah Lasoani. This research uses quasi experimental research design with 30 students as the sample selected by using purposive sampling technique. The sample of this research were VIII C as the experimental group that consist of 15 students and VIII A as the control group that consists of 15 students. The experimental group was treated by the researcher using the SQ3R strategy while control class was taught by the researcher using conventional teaching. The instruments of data collection were tests that were divided into pre-test and post-test. The result of the data analysis shows that there is a significant difference between the result of pre-test and post-test. It can be seen at the mean score of both tests’ results where the mean score of experimental group significantly increased from 50.89 to 74.89 Meanwhile, the mean score of control group improved from 52.89 to 61.33. Based on the result of the pre-test and post-test, the researcher found that the value of ?t-?_counted is 5.19.By applying degree of freedom (df) 28 (15+15-2) and 0.05 level of significance, the researcher found that the value of ?t-?_table is 1.701 which shows that the value of ?t-?_counted(5.19) is higher than the value of ?t-?_table (1.701). It means the impplementation of Survey, Question, Reading, Recite, Review (SQ3R) strategy can improve student’s reading comprehension to the eighth grade students at MTs-Al Istiqomah Lasoani.
