MASALAH SISWA KELAS DELAPAN DALAM PEMAHAMAN MEMBACA DI SMP N 12 PALU

ABSTRACT.
Reading is one of the most challenging language skills for many students.
They often find it difficult to understand the text they read, while in fact, reading
understanding is an indicator that someone has mastered reading skills. This
study aims to find out problems the difficulties encountered by SMPN 12 Palu
students in reading comprehension. This is a case study using qualitative
descriptive methods. To obtain data, the researcher uses questionnaire and
interviews. The sample of this research is the class VIII B, consisting of 24
students. The result shows that the problems that students often encounter in
reading comprehension are difficulty in determining main idea, difficulty in
finding information, difficulty in making inference and difficulty understand the
meaning or detailed information.
