MENGAJAR KOMPREHENSI MEMBACA KE KELAS DELAPAN SISWA SMP NEGERI 12 PALU MELALUI STRATEGI SQ3R

Abstract

This research aims at finding out if using SQ3R strategy affects the students’ reading comprehension of grade eight of SMP Negeri 12 Palu. The research applied quasi experimental design with non-equivalent control group. The population was 149 students in grade eight. The samples were 60 students selected employing random sampling technique. Paper and pencil method were used when collecting the data with a test as the instrument. The test was administered twice namely pre-test and post-test. The data were analyzed statistically using .05 level of significance and 58 degree of freedom. Based on the data analysis, it was found that the students’ mean score of the experimental group post-test was 65.16 greater than the control group’s mean score, 59.66. Comparison the two tests of scale describes that t-counted value = 3.23 > t-table value = 2.002. Therefore, Ha was accepted and Ho was rejected. It can be concluded that using SQ3R strategy affects the students’ reading comprehension of grade eight of SMP Negeri 12 Palu.

Abstrak

Tujuan penelitian ini ialah untuk mengetahui jika penggunaan strategi SQ3R mempengaruhi pemahaman membaca siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 12 Palu. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain quasi eksperimental dengan rancangan non-equivalen kelompok kontrol. Populasi sebanyak 149 siswa kelas delapan. Ada 60 siswa dipilih sebagai sampel menggunakan teknik random sampling. Metode kertas dan pensil digunakan pada saat pengumpulan data dengan menggunakan tes sebagai istrumen. Tes diberikan sebanyak dua kali yaitu tes awal dan tes akhir. Data di analisa secara statistik menggunakan .05 level of significance dan 58 degree of freedom. Ditemukan bahwa nilai rata-rata tes akhir dari kemampuan siswa kelompok eksperimen adalah 65.16 lebih besar dari kelompok kontrol, 59.66. Hasil perbandingan melalui uji-t menggambarkan nilai t-hitung = 3.23 > nilai t-table = 2.002. Sehingga, Ha di terima dan H0 di tolak. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan strategi SQ3R mempengaruhi pemahaman membaca siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 12 Palu.
