Menganalisis Kemampuan Pemahaman Mendengarkan Siswa Kelas Delapan Di SMP Negeri 9 Palu Terhadap Lirik Lagu

The objective of this research is to find out the level of listening comprehension
ability of the eighth grade students of SMPN 9 Palu in listening to song lyrics.
This research applied descriptive quantitative research design. The population of
this research was the grade eighth students of SMPN 9 Palu. 30 students of eighth
grade in SMPN 9 Palu were the sample of this research. In collecting the data,
the researcher using test, which consisted of 16 questions. It was used to find out
students’ listening comprehension. The results of this research showed that the
students’ listening comprehension in listening for detail is categorized good,
which the mean score is 68.Then, the students’ listening comprehension in
listening for main idea is categorized poor, which the mean score is 49.
Furthermore, the students’ listening comprehension in listening and making
inference is categorized good, which the mean score is 71. It can be identified that
the level of listening comprehension ability to song lyrics of the students of SMPN
9 Palu belongs to good category with supported by the data of the percentage of
students who falls into this category is higher than those of other categories.
