MENGEMBANGKAN KETERAMPILAN BERBICARA SISWA KELAS SEBELAS SMA NEGERI 1 TOLITOLI UTARA MELALUI FILM BERBAHASA INGGRIS

The objective of this research is to find out if English Movies can develop speaking skill of eleventh grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Tolitoli Utara. The researcher employed quasi-experimental research design. The samples of this research were the students of XI IPA 1 as the experimental group and XI IPA 2 as the control group selected by using purposive sampling technique. The data were analyzed statistically in order to find out the significant difference of the students’ achievement before and after the treatments. The mean score of experimental group on pretest was 22.73, while the control group was 27.08. The mean score of experimental group on posttest was 51.82, and the control group was 36.67. Based on the result of the pretest and the posttest, the researcher found that t-counted value was 6.56. By applying degree of freedom (df) 39 and 0.05 level of significance, it was found that t-table value was 1.67. It means that t-counted value (6.56) was higher than t-table value (1.67) or the hypothesis was accepted. In other words, using English movies can develop speaking skill of the eleventh grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Tolitoli Utara.
