MENGGUNAKAN TEAM WORD WEBBING UNTUK MENINGKATKAN PEMAHAMAN MEMBACA SISWA KELAS TUJUH SMP NEGERI 1 TIKKE RAYA, PASANGKAYU

ABSTRACT
Nurmadian (A 121 19 066). Using Team Word Webbing to Improve Reading
Comprehension of the Seventh Grade Students of SMP Negeri 1 Tikke Raya,
Pasangkayu. Skripsi. English Education Study Program, Department of

The objective of the research is to find out whether or not the use of Team Word
Webbing technique can improve reading comprehension of the seventh grade
students of SMP Negeri 1 Tikke Raya. Additionally, this research was conducted
through quasi experimental research design which, used experimental and control
class. They were VII A as experimental class and VII C as control class, the
experimental class was given the treatment by applying Team word webbing
technique, while the control class was taught by conventional method. The
instruments used in collecting data were a test given as pretest and posttest. The
obtained data of this research were analyzed statically in order to find out the
significant difference between two classes. The result of the tests show that, the
mean score of experimental class was improve 22 points while the control class
was improve only 7 points. There are several factors why students' scores in the
experimental group, which was taught using the Team word webbing technique,
can increase significantly, namely, the students easier to find important
information from the text, enthusiasm during the learning process and their
vocabulary was improved. By applying significance level of 0.05, the researcher
found that ????????????????????????????????? (4.52) was higher than ?????????????????????????, (1.676). It confirms that, the
hypothesis of the research is accepted. In conclusion, the use of Team Word
Webbing can improve reading comprehension of the seventh grade students of
SMP Negeri 1 Tikke Raya, Pasangkayu. So that, Team word webbing can be one
of the effective strategies that teachers can use to improve students' reading
comprehension, especially grade seventh of junior high school.

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk melihat apakah penggunaan teknik Team Word
Webbing dapat meningkatkan pemahaman membaca siswa kelas tujuh SMP
Negeri 1 Tikke Raya, atau tidak. Penelitian ini dilakukan melalui desain penelitian
eksperimen kuasi yang menggunakan kelas eksperimen dan kontrol. Mereka
adalah kelas VII A sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kelas VII C sebagai kelas
kontrol, kelas eksperimen diberi perlakuan dengan menerapkan teknik Team word
webbing, sedangkan kelas kontrol diajar dengan metode konvensional. Instrumen
yang digunakan dalam pengumpulan data adalah tes yang diberikan berupa pretest
dan posttest. Data yang diperoleh dari penelitian ini dianalisis secara statis untuk
mengetahui perbedaan yang signifikan antara kedua kelas. Hasil tes menunjukkan
bahwa rata-rata nilai kelas eksperimen meningkat 22 poin sedangkan kelas kontrol
hanya meningkat 7 poin. Ada beberapa faktor yang menyebabkan nilai siswa pada
kelompok eksperimen yang diajar dengan teknik Team word webbing dapat
meningkat secara signifikan, yaitu siswa lebih mudah mencari informasi penting
dari teks, antusias dalam proses pembelajaran dan kosakatanya meningkat.
Dengan menerapkan tingkat signifikansi 0.05, peneliti menemukan bahwa
?????????????????????????? (4,52) lebih tinggi dari ?????????????????????????,
(1,676). Hal ini menegaskan bahwa,
hipotesis penelitian diterima. Kesimpulannya, penggunaan Team Word Webbing
dapat meningkatkan pemahaman membaca siswa kelas tujuh SMP Negeri 1 Tikke
Raya, Pasangkayu. Sehingga, Team word webbing dapat menjadi salah satu
strategi efektif yang dapat digunakan guru untuk meningkatkan pemahaman
membaca siswa khususnya kelas tujuh SMP.
