Mengidentifikasi Keterampilan Berbicara Siswa Pada Kelas XI Di SMAN 1 Bolano Parigi Moutong

Sela Febriani(A 121 17 046). This skripsi entitles: “Identifying Speaking Skill of
Grade XI Students at SMAN 1 Bolano”.English Education Study Program,
Department of Language and Art Education, Faculty of Teacher Training and
Education, Tadulako University, under the supervision of Mawardin, M, Said.
This research aims to identify the speaking skill of the students at SMAN 1 Bolano
Parigi Moutong. The aspect of speaking skill focused in this study is fluency. The
focuses of this research are to identify how fluent students speak monologues in
English using picture media. This research was designed by using descriptive
qualitative research. The subjects were all XI grade consisting of 131 students.
Technique convenience sampling was used to get 15 students. Data were collected
through oral tests, cell phones, and pictures. The data were analyzed by using
Stockdale‘s theory in speaking fluency. Thus, the fluency level was interpreted by
using the scale of speaking fluency which is adapted from the Fluency Scale Ordinate
Cooperation by Jong and Hulstin(2009). The results of the study show that the
student's fluency level in speaking English is intermediate or at level 2 with a mean
score of 58.27.
