Menginvestigasi Kesulitan-Kesulitan Dalam Berbicara Bahasa Inggris Yang Dialami Siswa Kelas Delapan SMP N 1 Balaesang Tanjung

Encountered by the Eighth Grade Students of SMP Negeri 1 Balaesang
Tanjung. Under the supervision of Mukrim.
The objectives of this research were to explore the difficulties in speaking
English and factors affecting the difficulties in speaking English encountered by
the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Balaesang Tanjung. The researcher
applied mixed method research. The population of this research was the eighth
grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Balaesang Tanjung. The sample of this research
was class A. The sample was selected by using convenience sampling technique.
In collecting the data, the researcher used questionnaire and interview. The
results of the data analysis showed students have difficulties in speaking English.
The researcher also found the factors contributing the students’ difiiculties in
speaking. Difficulties in speaking English that faced by the eighth grade students
of SMP Negeri 1 Balaesang Tanjung were the students are not able to form the
sentence well, they do not know how to pronounce well and they lacked of
vocabulary. Factors that affecting the eighth grade students’ difficulties in
speaking English were the students found that lack of confidence as an obstacle
for them to speak in English, they were afraid of making mistake, they felt anxious
to speak, they felt shy and they have no motivation to speak in English.
