MENINGKATKAN KOSA KATA SISWA KELAS VIII SMP NEGERI MODEL TERPADU MADANI PALU MELALUI STRATEGI PENGURUTAN KATA

The research aims at proving that using word sort strategy can increase the vocabulary of grade VIII students of SMP Negeri Model Terpadu Madani Palu. The research employed quasi experimental design. This research applied a pretest and posttest design. It involved two classes, experimental class and control class. The population of this research is the grade VIII students of SMP Negeri Model Terpadu Madani Palu. The sample was selected by using purposive sampling technique. The samples are 50 students of class VIII B as the experimental class and VIII A as the control class. The researcher analyzed the data statistically. The result of data analysis shows that the mean score of the experimental class (80.40) is higher than the mean score of the control class (65.06). The deviation score of both experimental and control class is 7.45. The result of t-counted (8.20) which is higher than the t-table (2.01). In analyzing the data, the researcher used 0.05 level of significance and the degree of freedom (df - 25 + 25 - 2) It means that the hypothesis of the research was accepted. Therefore, the application of word sort strategy increases students' vocabulary.
