MENINGKATKAN PEMAHAMAN MEMBACA DENGAN MENGGUNAKAN CERITA RAKYAT PADA SISWA KELAS SEPULUH DI SMA NEGERI 8 PALU

ABSTRAK
The objective of this research is to prove that the use of Folktales can improve
Reading Comprehension of the Tenth Grade Students of SMA Negeri 8 Palu. The
researcher applied quasi-experimental research design. The sample of this
research was 28 students, which was divided into 15 students of class X A as the
experimental group and 13 students of class X B as the control group. The sample
was selected using the cluster random sampling technique. The data were
collected through the reading test that consisted of pre-test and post-test that
conducted at first and last meetings. The result of the pre-test showed that the
mean score of the experimental group is 70.2, while the mean score of the control
group is 60.92. the result of experimental group post-test is 82.4 , while the mean
score of the control group is 69.46. It indicated that the experimental group has
shown improvement in their reading comprehension compared to the control
group. By applying 0.05 level significant, the researcher found that the value of t-
counted (1.82) is higher than t-table (1.70). it means that the use of Folktales
improves students' Reading Comprehension, especially for the tenth grade
students of SMA Negeri 8 Palu.

ABSTRAK
Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk membuktikan bahwa penggunaan Cerita
Rakyat dapat meningkatkan Pemahaman Membaca Siswa Kelas Sepuluh SMA
Negeri 8 Palu. Peneliti menggunakan desain penelitian kuasi eksperimen. Sampel
penelitian ini berjumlah 28 siswa, yang terbagi menjadi 15 siswa kelas X A
sebagai kelompok eksperimen dan 13 siswa kelas X B sebagai kelompok kontrol.
Sampel dipilih dengan menggunakan teknik cluster random sampling. Data
dikumpulkan melalui tes membaca yang terdiri dari pre-test dan post-test yang
dilakukan pada pertemuan pertama dan terakhir. Hasil pre-test menunjukkan
bahwa nilai rata-rata kelompok eksperimen adalah 70,2, sedangkan nilai rata-
rata kelompok kontrol adalah 60,92. hasil post-test kelompok eksperimen adalah
82,4, sedangkan skor rata-rata kelompok kontrol adalah 69,46. Hal ini
menunjukkan bahwa kelompok eksperimen telah menunjukkan peningkatan dalam
pemahaman membaca mereka dibandingkan dengan kelompok kontrol. Dengan
menerapkan tingkat signifikan 0,05, peneliti menemukan bahwa nilai t-hitung
(1,82) lebih tinggi dari t-tabel (1,70). itu berarti bahwa penggunaan Cerita
Rakyat meningkatkan pemahaman membaca siswa, khususnya untuk siswa kelas
sepuluh SMA Negeri 8 Palu.
